I am a child of the Internet era.

The earliest memory I can remember is of me sitting at a computer playing an 8-bit racing game on a computer that happened to have a turbo button. Fast forward a few years and you'll find me discovering the Internet for the very first time with a 56k modem. Even back then, you'd be hard-pressed to drag me away from a computer monitor, and it's now even harder as I now have a career revolving around it.

I've grown up with the Internet, and I've been very privileged to be one of the very first generations to do so. This has enabled me to study it immensely. To see how it ticks. To see what trends, what works and what doesn't.

Allow me to put my several years' formal experience as a web developer and countless more informal years of Internet experience to work, whether it be purely for advice, partnering on a startup, or a work opportunity.

Let me see what I can do for you, Business Name .

Work Experience

You aren't going to find many twenty year old web developers with seven years work experience. I'm one of the very few exceptions to the rule.

Since starting a traineeship with iOnline seven years ago which progressed into a part-time job, I've wrangled Internet Explorer 6 bugs, made far too many Adobe Flash carousels, and helped the push towards responsive web design, among many other things.

I'm excited now more than ever for what's next, both for the industry and my career.

I love to learn. When it's a subject that interests me, largely encompassing web technologies, I am a sponge that will absorb any information you throw at me. (Even those useless facts.)

Perhaps this ability has assisted me with several achievements I've had while at Griffith University, including:

  • Lecturer/Tutor for Introduction to Web Design (2015)
  • Membership to the Golden Key International Honours Society (2013)
An International Honours Society honouring the top 15 percentile of a university degree
  • Griffith University Award for Academic Excellence in Bachelor of Multimedia (2012)
Honouring the top 10 percentile of the Bachelor of Multimedia degree
  • Griffith University Industry Project Opmantek Award Finalist (2014)
  • Griffith University ICT Student Mentor (2013-2015)

On September 28 through to October 7, 2015, I'll be partaking in Startup Catalyst, a program which takes 20 young entrepreneurs to San Francisco to learn from the best of the very best tech startups. I'll be tweeting, podcasting and partaking in media interviews while there.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter to stay posted on my happenings, and if you're around, come say hey!

University results particularly important to you:

  • Web Design and Development (2012)
    Final result - HD (7)
  • Web Programming (2013)
    Final result - 7
  • Dynamic Multimedia Systems (2013)
    Final result - 7
  • Industry Project (2014)
    Final result - 7

When I'm not working, I'm learning.

It's astounding to me how many of these skills I've learned in the past 5 years or so, and even more astounding that a lot of these skills have been learned through staying up late, pushing myself to integrate new technologies into every project I touch.

This very website is no exception. For the first time ever in a production setting, I've used Continuous Integration and employed a number of practices to improve website performance.

This is all but a small subsection of what I've worked on.

While I have worked on many projects during my time at iOnline, there isn't a lot I can publicly show you. Additionally, you're welcome to check out my GitHub profile, but there isn't much to see at this stage.

Stay tuned - I hope to be able to show you more soon.

Of course, there's more to me than just work: there's equally as much play behind the scenes.
